In a recent cabinet meeting held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, several proposals were approved by the Shivraj cabinet. The meeting was concluded, and Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang briefed the media about the decisions made during the meeting.
One of the critical decisions taken was the approval of the State Millet Mission. The mission aims to promote millets in the state, and plans have been made for the years 2024 and 2025. Under the scheme, farmers will receive an 80 percent subsidy among coarse grains. Coarse grains will now be mandatory in the food of government programs, including mid-day meals, hostels, and other government-run schemes. A provision of 2325 lakh has been made for the implementation of the scheme.
In another significant development, the cabinet approved the inclusion of transgender people in the list of backward classes. Approximately 30 thousand transgender people residing in the state will now be eligible for reservations.
The cabinet also approved the promotion of wheat exports and amended the provision for reimbursement of market fees for exported wheat. The government will compensate Markfed for any losses incurred during the purchase of moong.
The biggest investment in the state is also on the horizon, as an investment of about 50 thousand crores has been confirmed for Bharat Petroleum's refinery plant. The government will provide a concession of 15 years in State GST, worth 15 thousand crores, an interest-free loan of 500 crores, and a concession of Re 1 per unit in electricity.
The cabinet also paid homage to the great social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, who worked towards women's education, Dalit upliftment, and social reform.
The decision to promote millets, reservation for transgender people, and the upcoming investment in the state are expected to have a positive impact on Madhya Pradesh's socio-economic development
