Ujjain police nabs gang members of Mewat Gang from Ahmedabad, 14 trucks & 2.80 crore confiscated

Ujjain- Under the direction of Inspector General of Police Ujjain Kumar Singh and Deputy Inspector General of Police Ujjain Range Ujjain Anil Singh Kushwaha, Superintendent of Police Ujjain Satyendra Kumar Shukla special campaign is being run for the prevention of property related crimes. Under this campaign, the Badnagar police team has arrested two members of the Mewat gang, an inter-state vehicle thief gang from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Along with this, a total of 14 trucks worth Rs. 2 crore 80 lakh have been confiscated from them.
On June 14, 2022, complainant Praveen's father Omprakash Rathore resident Badnavar had lodged a report of theft of his dumper at the Badnagar police station. On the report, the crime was registered in the Badnagar police station and taken up for investigation. In view of the seriousness of the case, Superintendent of Police Ujjain formed a team under the leadership of the station in-charge Badnagar.
During the investigation Technical evidence and CCTV footage were obtained. Based on the footage from the cameras, a Brezza car was moving along with it while carrying the stolen dumper. During the investigation, on getting the information of Brezza car, the said Brezza car was found to be registered in the name of some Nuh Mewat (Rajasthan). On receiving information about the suspect being in Ahmedabad, the police team arrested the said suspect from Ahmedabad on July 19. On enquiry, he told a total of 14 trucks to be parked in different parking lots of Ahmedabad. A total of 14 trucks were confiscated from the person's death. Another accomplice of the accused was also arrested from Alwar (Rajasthan).
During interrogation, the police came to know that the gang works in two parts. One part of the gang steals trucks and the other part sells those stolen trucks in Ahmedabad, Surat, Nadiad etc. area. The arrested person is the gangster of the thief gang, who has a silver colored Brezza car. He along with his two or three companions used to leave from Ahmedabad towards Indore in the evening. Between 11:00 and 01:00, these people used to rake the Eiser truck parked at any place and after getting a chance, started it with the master key and took it to any parking lot of Ahmedabad Ring Road. The members of the gang who stole the stolen vehicles used to take the stolen truck in their possession and paint it completely. Then this gang used to find such customers who would be able to pay the actual price of the vehicle in one go. The gang would collect half of the original price from such customers and give the truck to the customer. After paying the money in full, it was decided to transfer the name. In this way, this gang used to sell stolen Eiser trucks for Rs 7 to 8 lakhs without any documents. Due to the high demand of Eysar truck in Gujarat, this gang mainly used to steal Eyer truck. Apart from this, this gang used to steal the dumper due to the demand of dumper in illegal mining in Mewat area, the original residence of the gang. Stolen dumpers have been reported to be easily used in Nuh Mewat for illegal mining without papers. Truck thief gang used to steal trucks in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR area earlier. In the month of December, a person of this gang along with the stolen Eysar truck went to UP. Khurja was caught in the police station area. After this, Rajasthan, MP by the gang. And started stealing trucks in Gujarat.
During interrogation, the gangster has admitted to stealing about 20 trucks and two dumpers from Rajasthan, MP and Gujarat in the period from January to June and also from police station Badnagar. Police remand of the arrested accused has been taken for 7 days for the recovery of dumper and other trucks and for the arrest of the kingpin of the gang that hides the stolen vehicles in Ahmedabad.
A total of 12 Eiser trucks, one Tata truck and one Swaraj Mazda truck have been seized from the accused so far. Out of which one Eiser truck police station Badnagar, one Eicher truck police station Mahakal Ujjain, two Eicher truck police station Azad Nagar Indore, two Eicher truck police station Chandan Nagar Indore have been stolen. Information regarding other trucks seized is also being obtained from the police stations of MP, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
