Madhya Pradesh Government Extends Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bais' Tenure Amidst Upcoming Assembly Elections

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh- In a strategic move ahead of the proposed assembly elections in November, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to extend the tenure of Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bais until 30 November 2023. This decision, which has garnered widespread agreement across various levels, aims to ensure continuity in governance during the crucial electoral period. Notably, a similar extension was granted to Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh prior to the 2018 assembly elections.
With the impending end of Bais' increment period on May 31, it is worth mentioning that his half-year tenure was completed in November 2022. On the very day of his retirement, he was granted a six-month extension, given his exceptional service and notable contributions to the implementation of government schemes. Moreover, his amicable relationship with the Chief Minister further solidified his candidacy for the extension.
Insider sources from the ministry reveal that Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bais has been instrumental in effectively executing the government's policies and initiatives. This factor, coupled with his rapport with the Chief Minister, has bolstered the likelihood of granting him a six-month extension.
