Jabalpur: Jabalpur, a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, was recently in the news for a significant development in a blind murder case. The case, which had been unsolved for almost 50 days, was finally cracked by the newly appointed Superintendent of Police, Mr. Tushar Kant Vidyarti.
According to reports, the victim of the murder was a share trader named Anupam Sharma, who lived in Jasuja City of Sanjivani Nagar police station area. It was revealed that Anupam had a dispute with his friend Vinod Sharma, alias Tony, over a transaction of ₹ 2500000.
Vinod, who was Anupam's friend, had lured his tenant Ramprakash Poonia into his conspiracy. Ramprakash, who is an artist and often moves to Mumbai, had not paid rent for several months. Vinod convinced Ramprakash to help him in the murder of Anupam.
The murder took place when Anupam was called for accounting, and Vinod and Ramprakash strangled him to death. To avoid police action, Vinod messaged Anupam's father from his mobile, stating that he was going on the path of spirituality to atone for his sins and would stay in an ashram without talking to anyone.
Anupam's father had filed a missing person report, and the police started investigating the case. During their investigation, pieces of an unknown dead body were found in the Kachhpura drain. However, the police did not get confused and kept tightening the screws.
Vinod tried to confuse the police further by giving Anupam's mobile to his tenant and telling him to message his father from Nashik and leave the mobile phone in the train itself. However, the police were able to trace the phone's location and did not fall for Vinod's ploy.
Vinod Sharma committed suicide in the middle of the investigation, and the police arrested his tenant Ramprakash Poonia for questioning. During the interrogation, Ramprakash revealed the entire story of the incident and provided many pieces of evidence, leading to the solving of the case.
It was discovered that Vinod had cut the dead body of Anupam Sharma into small pieces with a wood-cutting saw and thrown it into the Kachhpura drain after wrapping it in polythene.
The police investigation led by Mr. Tushar Kant Vidyarti's team has been praised for their dedication and quick work in solving the blind murder case, which had remained unsolved for almost 50 days. The accused's suicide has prevented further legal proceedings in the case
