JABALPUR: An aid of former bishop PC Singh, Suresh Jacob has been granted bail from the High Court of Jabalpur on furnishing a personal bond of Rs one Lac. The court of Justice Nandita Dubey observed on 11.11.2022 that Suresh is in the custody of EOW since 30 days and have cooperated in the investigation. The court observed that Suresh was not arrested due to incorporating in the police investigations, but due to leaving to Delhi without prior intimation. Senior Advocate Manish Datt on behalf of accused Suresh Jacob presented this bail application.
An aide of former bishop PC Singh, who is under arrest after EOW searches unearthed disproportionate assets and other irregularities, was also arrested by EOW. Accused identified as Suresh Jacob used to oversee the management at the Christ Church School in Jabalpur whose funds were misappropriated by PC Singh with his help. As per the information received from SP EOW Jabalpur, DS Rajput, accused Suresh Jacob was first interrogated and then arrested. Jacob was an accomplice of arrested Bishop PC Singh. PC Singh had appointed the son of Suresh Jacop as principal of a school. Suresh Jacob used to manage the Christ Church School and he was accomplice of PC Singh in the misappropriations done with the funds of fee collected at the Christ Church School, Rajput informed.

Singh is under arrest and investigations are being carried out by EOW after searches conducted at the residential and official premises of Church of North India, Jabalpur diocese, bishop PC Singh in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district recovered Rs 1.65 crore cash and 18432 US dollars apart from documents of other properties on September 8.
In September this year, the Madhya Pradesh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) conducted searches at the residential premises of the Church of North India Jabalpur Diocese’s bishop to recover crores of cash and foreign currency. The EOW also raided the office of the Church to recover documents related to the alleged misappropriation of funds.
According to the reports, a case was registered against the chairman of the Church last month. Chairman PC Singh was charged with cheating and engaging in the misappropriation of funds in running an educational society. EOW’s Superintendent of Police Devendra Singh Rajput confirmed the incident and said that several incriminating documents have also been recovered from the premises of the Church chairman.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Singh had illegally transferred around Rs 2.7 crores collected as students’ fees by the society between 2004-05 and 2011-12 to religious institutions and misused the money to fulfilling his personal needs. This also comes exactly a month after Jan Ki Baat journalist Pradeep Bhandari exposed the activities of Bishop PC Singh on August 8.
